The bus came to a stop, the doors flew open, and the parade began. Almost 50 youth, of middle and high school age, filed into the Liebenzell Guest House to spend a day learning about missions.

Liebenzell Retreat Ministries partnered with St. Philip’s United Methodist Church in Patterson, N.J., to bring kids from the church’s summer day program out to Schooley’s Mountain. The kids got to experience a little bit of African culture, and to learn about how kids their age live in Africa.

The North American IMPACT Team (short-term volunteers from Germany) assisted with a program that featured games, stories, drama, and full-sized model of an African bush hut. The kids also enjoyed a delicious meal with the familiar (spaghetti) and the foreign (Nshima).
