Liebenzell is an independent, evangelical missions' organization.  Liebenzell USA is located on a 150+ acre property on Schooley's Mountain, NJ.  The facility consists of the Guest Houses, a working farm, and the Retreat Center.

We offer a wide variety of facility options for groups of 10 to 300, as well as personal retreats.  There is a place here for you.

Provide clean, comfortable facilities, good food and a staff with servants' hearts.  We believe this brings honor to our Lord and Savios, Jesus Christ.

Our Story

Liebenzell was founded in 1899 by Heinrich Cooper after having been inspired by Hudson Taylor and the China Inland Mission.  In 1906 the German Branch of the China Inland Mission found its permanent home in the Black Forest town of Bad Liebenzell and became Liebenzell Mission.  By 1941 the work of the Mission had grown in many areas of outreach to include fields of Asia and the Pacific Islands.  World War II had negatively imapcted the flow of supplies and missionaries to those regions.

A small, yet faithful group of supporters from the U.S. raised sufficient funds to purchase this property on what is now known as Schooley's Mountain.  As displaced missionaries arrived here to seek refuge from the war, the name Eben-ezer (the Lord has helped us) became the name of this place.  From this Liebenzell Mission USA was born and dedicated to the goal of "the Gospel for the whole world".

Today, Liebenzell, cradled among the beautiful rolling hills of northwest New Jersey, seeks not only to go to the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Christ, but to also serve others here on the mountain.  We hope your stay with us will become one to be remembered and passed on to others so that they too, can have the "mountain top" experience.
